You’ve probably seen their memorable black and white checkered pieces decorating the shelves of those you love, or maybe you saw their iconic tea kettle in that one random Kardashians episode you watched or possibly you saw some of their handcrafted pieces scattered about in your favorite influencers feed. MacKenzie-Childs is no new-comer to the home furnishings world, in fact they have been around since 1983 and aren’t just your grandmas stored away china company. They create the most beautiful pieces, so many of their pieces are hand made with purpose and passion. You might be surprised to learn that they currently have quite the cult following, I know right? So much so that women “tailgate” so to speak for their yearly barn sale held for 4 days straight in Aurora, New York. I’ll be honest, at first I had to chuckle at this thinking of a bunch of generational women eating tea sandwiches, drinking mimosas, camped outside in a field shopping for coveted home decor. But then the more I got to know the people behind the brand, I became invested, saw the loyalty of the staff, the love they have for their pieces, the time and the quality they put into it and now consider myself a true MC lifer. Besties….the countryside….cocktails…..knickknacks….ok count me in!
Let’s get real and honest for a moment, I did not grow up in a family who entertained or cooked often so the thought of it actually terrified and intimidated me. I had so many reasons not to entertain, my kitchen was too small, I didn’t have matching plates or silverware, my furniture isn’t nice enough, I might burn dinner, hosting is exhausting, the list goes on and on. Basically I was making up excuses because of my own insecurities. No one really cares about all of the things I mentioned above, they just want a place to gather around the table and spend time with the people that mean the most to them. Your “real friends” simply just want your company and that’s it.
MacKenzie-Childs pieces are meant to be used so that you build lasting memories within each of their pieces. The quality in each piece is made to be passed down from generation to generation. It excites me that I get to start a collection for my girls and they will hopefully remember the long talks about boys over the Courtly Check tea kettle, or discussing what college they should attend while they eat my too salty tomato soup I made in my favorite Flower Market stockpot. Their serendipitous company has a little something for everyone, stunning furniture, elegant rugs, eye-catching tableware, charming accessories, even unique holiday decor. Each piece is hand crafted and unlike any other, their true passion and love for what they do is what sets them apart from any other.
A MacKenzie Childs Halloween:
Thanks to the versatility of MacKenzie-Childs pieces, I was able to get creative this Halloween and use several of my cherishables to decorate a spooctacular bar cart. The pieces easily transitioned into my Thanksgiving decor pictured above, where we enjoyed s beautiful table presentation for our family dinner. I can’t wait to see how I am able to continually restyle these staple pieces from year to year.
MacKenzie-Childs is a company who’s name carries significant clout of trust and loyalty. Whether it’s your daughter’s first birthday party or your 50th wedding anniversary, they want to be a part of your most cherishable moments. I hope you give them a try and truly like their pieces as much as I do! Xo
A big thank you to Gramercy Grace for the stunning floral arrangements in the above photos. Be sure to check out her designs for your next gathering.
